going to change my wheel soon and thinking of finally fitting a quick release since ive had it knocking about for ages now

Security wise though, Is the lack of a wheel the same level of deterant as a disklok? My fear would be anyone with interest in nicking the car would still try in the hope that the wheel was in the car somewhere, whereas with a disklok they know its going to be a struggle from looking through the window

Whats peoples thoughts on this? And my rationale for the quick release is the wheel I want to fit will be flat and Im used to a dished wheel, so will need a spacer - but I have a quick release here which would space it enough

Disklok, It beats having to carry a steering wheel with you every time you go somewhere.
I remember my da telling me that people used to take their steering wheels off in the 70s and 80s and people still stole their cars and used vice grips to steer lol. If you want to use a snap off steering wheel get a lock for it, NRG makes one for their quick release.

would be a quare nightmare breaking a steering lock with vice grips mind you lol, being honest the only place in belfast it would really be parked is outside the house or secure parking so popping the wheel off wouldnt be much of a hastle

But I think I might be best just getting myself a solid spacer instead and can keep using the disklok for peace of mind. Shame as I love stupid **** like being able to pull off the wheel lol

I've a snap off steering wheel on the escort, but to be honest for all the price of an immobiliser or even a wee hidden switch for the fuel pump you might be better with that. No steering wheel or a disklok is a good visual deterrent though

100% wouldnt rely on either method by themselves, plenty of other wee bits too!

I know that when they see the disklok they won't normally bother with it, It'd probably be the same with having no steering wheel.

Nah they'll break in to see if you've left the wheel in the boot/under the seat. Get a disklok.

Having a snap of steering wheel in the MR2, I like it for looks alone, However something I have meant to do was to get another mount for it in the boot, where it can be snapped on to, needing a key to release, therefore removing the possibility that it can be used in the event of a break in
