Standing safety-car re-starts

Not sure if that is a good thing to be honest, or even necessary... Sounds like "doing anything just to do something, even if it makes no sense"... Might as well red flag and restart after every little incident in that case :worried:

I read @coops post as they were dropping that idea, ie not doing anymore as there's been talk about it all this year for 2015

The idea of standing re-starts was proposed this year but, for whatever reason, the idea has been binned.

Safety car is one area Formula 1 is likely to overhaul though, after Jules Bianchi's accident.

Need someone with common sense to make the big decisions in Formula 1, a former driver would be ideal.

Speeds under yellow flags especially double double yellow flags

Well, some way of controlling speed under yellows is fair enough. They already have all the telemetry, so they know exactly what everyone does on every millimetre of the circuit.

I thought they already had, and enforced, limits under yellow. Have seen drivers being penalised for speeding under yellow.

Apparently it is set as some percentage of their best times in a given sector, which is apparently hard for drivers to drive to, or whatever. So clearing that up would be useful.

Bianci in all fairness was a freak accident, as tragic as it certainly was. Have Brawn reported on that yet? He and a few other sensible "old hands" was supposed to look into it and make recommendations?

Speeding under yellow usually points towards them just not lifting during that sector, I don't know why they don't just impliment a Le Mans style slow zone instead of all this 'virtual' safety car nonsense.

Another slow day for McLaren, at least that should be the issues out of the way for Jerez and they can get straight on to evaluating the chassis and aero

The new Honda sounds raspy , maybe has a kazoo shoved up its pipe !
Honestly though , if they have managed to make the sound more high
pitched and more "racey" fair play to them , all Merc did was put a
trumpet on the end . .useless . .

That Merc megaphone had a high comedic value though, hilarious :grinning:

What on earth were they thinking with that one!

Why didnt Maclaren just run the new Honda car on a rolling road before going anywhere
near a track ? All you have to do is remove front and rear wings and you can run
the motor as much as you want . . Renault did it with Torro Rosso between the first
tests in Jan/feb . Many years ago NASA put on the tops of their drawing boards KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid.
Too many "clever" people just forget there is often a simple way of doing things or design complication - used to be called common sense !

They are doing that, Boullier has said that while it was not ideal loosong the track time that they did, they will run the car on a dyno to get the mileage they need

They do both... Obviously...

At some point it has to go in a chassis and test the entire package. Only so much you can do in a bench or on an RR.
