More likely to be someone from the junior Ferrari programme I would have thought, to replace Kimi? A clear "number two" to Vettel, not a challenger.

As for the Qatar thing, it is "just" for the CVC stake in the F1 management company. Looks more like a US initiative backed by Qatari money. Qatar really want that race, lol :innocent:

Interesting it is a US investor, and a sports guy. Might take a more active interest? But I guess they would have as much real influence as CVC do, which looks like pretty much zero...

Seems like Mercedes still ahead, but Nico seems to have done his homework the best so far. Lewis actually aborted his run, which is never a good sign. But we know Lewis usually picks up massively on the Saturday, and track conditions will likely be different.

Happy days at the races @adam1942! Traffic always bad around Silverstone, looks like no different this year.

Well done by Williams today (y)

And Kimi ahead of Vettel - just hope he keeps it on the track this time and beats that pesky German :p :innocent:

Other than that, business as usual... Nico very close to Lewis though. Whoever gets away at the start will win.

Hoping Bottas & Hamilton have better starts this time. Good step by Williams to jump Ferrari.

Alonso is set to be disqualified from qualifying as it turns out he used one of Button's tyres. McLaren are a mess.

McL were let off with a reprimand for mixing up the tyres.

Actually, apparently their performance in quali was one of their best so far in terms of percentage of the front-runner times 8-| Their best ever against Ferrari especially. Apparently :grinning:

Stirling Moss is such a legend, modern F1 drivers can only dream of being like him.

Cheers

Great race in the wet & the dry.

Williams, Bottas in particular, could have won today but they fluffed their lines.

Another shocker from Raikkonen.

Random race, lol :grinning:

Loved seeing the Williams shoot past at the start. Also surprised what a hard time Nico was having trying to pass them before the rain. The rain saved Nico, the Williams apparently only works in a straight line in the dry :p

Game of dice once the rain came in. Kimi rolled the dice, and lost. Lewis and Vettel rolled the dice, and won. Would have loved to have seen the two Williams on the podium, and without the rain they would have been. Instead the two annoying Germans got lucky... Ah well.

Other than that, zzzzzzzzz. Fast forwarded through most of it. The drivers might love Silverstone, but honestly, on TV it is as boring and processional as Monaco.

A pretty exciting race, the rain usually mixes things up. Great calls from Hamilton & Vettel Lady Luck was on their side. Williams made a blunder by not letting the faster driver get some distance ahead of Mercedes when they had the chance because they fell to pieces when the rain hit. Credit where credits due, nice driving by Rosberg although I wish he slid off into the barriers at the first opportunity.
Hamilton broke a nice record-Most concetuvie races with at least one lap in the lead with 18. It was a record held since 1970 by Jim Clark with 17. Hard to believe that record remained during the Senna/Prost/Mansell/Schumacher/Vettel eras.

Only 2 drivers on the grid use the 'stick your hand out of the cockpit to see if its raining heavy enough for inters' method of weather prediction.

No prizes for guessing who they are .... Hint, they both pitted on lap 43.

Bernie will be delighted. Wouldn't have got anywhere near the same coverage had he been let in without anything being said.

The only driver with genuine star quality off the track.
