A few of us from Uni are heading to England and need to hire a car from Birmingham for 5 days. Insurance can be provided by the university which would help us a avoid the young drivers charges but not sure who offers rental without insurance? Anyone done this before?

If the university is providing insurance then you have insurance????

It's the car we need. Can't see much on any of the main rental company websites!

Edit: Was able to organise a van without the insurance but seems more common for the commercial stuff.

I think only customers with a corporate account can arrange rentals without using the hire companies insurance. It might be worth your while phoning around a few dealers that do rentals and they may have some leeway if you can show them paperwork proving cover?
