When i open my car and get in the vacuum pump still wines away for up to 20 seconds, and the boot or fuel filler wont open until the end of that. same with locking, seems a delay.

I've read about split pipes, but ive taken the boot lock vacuum line out and inspected it and it all seems good. Anyone any ideas? Think pump may be on its way out and doesnt have the power to open boot straight away?

Its a year 2000 C class

Could be a vacuum leak somewhere else in the car. One of my old golfs leaked in the rear door, could hear it hiss, and the pump ran on for a bit longer. I assume it has to build up pressure or something

No hissing from mine so ill maybe wait until the unit fails and replace it and hope thatll be the end of it.
