Cleaning matt black exhaust tips

What's best to clean these with? Mine look a bit manky and don't know what the best solution would be to make them look nice as I wouldn't like to scrub too hard on them and remove the Matt finish.

Would like to put a nice fresh set of chrome ones on it but no point now in the ****ty weather.

i would tackle it with some tar/glue remover and/or cleanse/fallout initially to get burnt on dirt/tar off then, if required, go at them very lightly with a polish (not necessarily metal) - end of the day, they are a matt finish so if they are clean of dirt and tar, then they don't need a polish near them - any heat will burn it off

I've got some cleanse in the house I'll give that a go! I was worried that metal polish might damage the pipes tbh.
