Have you an angle grinder? can buy polishing attachments for them from Amazon if its just for S/S

Probably better using a rotary or an angle grinder

Open to a Rotary or Orbital, I like the idea of having speed control with a Polisher rather than ON/Off on the 9" Makita

The backing plate is on the last legs so work away if your stuck.

I’ve a Sealey unit that might do the job.

Was loaned out and returned without any backing plate but I’m sure that wouldn’t be hard to replace.
