So I bought this divine example of a 2001 Astra 1.7DTI with 150k on it in February for double figures and proceeded to use it while building the house. It was used as a Van, Dog Transport, Hire Car, etc. Basically, it was treated like sh1t and it never ceased to deliver! So it started of like this when I decided to finally treat it to some well deserved TLC...

It now looks like this. Now I did get the 2 bumpers painted along with the back arches as they were past the point of machining, but the rest was completed with the help of Milkaukee Rotary, Various Rupes / Menzerna / Finixia and to top it off a few coats of Collinite...

It also got a New set of Wheel Trims (check me out lol), Mudflaps and Tailored Mats aswell. Excuse the Number Plate Sticky's, didn't see the point in taking them off and more to the point, I couldn't be arsed :p

C&C Welcome.

Fair play, how many hours did that take you?

Am assuming you are keeping it after all that hard work!!

Probably about 30ish, but I was doing it in my spare time, so I don't really know tbh. Damn right I'm keeping it. It is a genuinely good driving little thing and although your semen gets of the line and accelerates faster, it's perfect for mucking about it and is hideously easy on fuel too boot!

Wow, looks fantastic...what did you use on the door handle plastics?

I have been using it for yrs now, it's Concept Vista. It is a very thick solution that you can apply to most plastics and initially it looks incredibly shiney and horrible, but after a few days when it hardens, there is a nice natural look from it. It's a complete git to apply, but the result is worth it and unlike other restorers it doesn't run and acts like a bond. I done the plastics on my old cav 3 times in 4+yrs, so that gives you and idea on the longevity...

Great job sir ...do you do detailing as a business or pleasure ?

I did do it as a business a few years ago, but my main job soon put a stop to that and I only do it for friends and family now. Thanks btw!

Great job. When you say bought for single figures, do you really mean £9 or less?

I should edit this, it was a little over £50 with 5mths MOT and it cost £50.47 to get another yrs ticket on it

Cheers Sean. It turned out surprisingly well thankfully and the effort was worth it in the end. The headlights are grand. Sanded them and then gave them a buff and they are as good as they are going to be. Thanks for the ebay info, but I ain't spending another penny on it unless it's maintenance lol
