Air Cooled Drag Day #2 Aug 24th

As per title, im delighted to announce that we will be going back to bishopscourt in 2014 after the success of the very first drag day. If you have something aircooled and wish to race, then contact me via pm on here, otherwise feel free to join us on the day, theres a lot of beetles and campers out there that are slightly quicker than you might expect, and the scene is set to see who will break Irelands first "11" over the quarter. Entries open soon, ill update this thread with more info as it evolves. More than anything, its a really good fun day out and a chance to have a good look at everything the early volkswagen scene has to offer, from stock to mild to wild, from custom to daily driver, huge show n shine area, come join us

The field is looking great, the number of big engined cars has pretty much tripled this year and we have some serious h2o machinery stepping into the mix for some air vs water grudge maches , its set to be another brilliant event.

I got a parcel in the post today, and what a parcel it was!!!!!!
True to his promise, this wonderful trophy has arrived from Matt Keene at Airkraft, one of the U.K's finest talents in making vw's go fast, he is a seasoned 9 second pilot and builds the most insanely detailed cars.

To win it you will have to be the quickest AIRCOOLED of the event!!!
There is a stack of newcomers all with big engines ready to do battle, someone has already laid down an early marker of what it might take to walk home with the goods from Matt, this will be an interesting and hard fought competition.

More news, Irish rallycross competitor John Kelly has been bitten by the bug (excuse the pun)

After a trip to Belgium he has come home with a Pro Stock drag bug and full turbo setup, this car is legendary, it ran regular 10's N.A way back when.

Even with a 200 hp n.a engine it would run mid 11's easily, itll be interesting to see what John has in store for it, but its a first for Ireland to have a pro stocker.

sure can, its £5 per vehicle pre book, £10 gate on the day, strictly speaking it is an aircooled event, but anything early watercooled mk1/2/3 golf, vag/porsche or similar would be most welcome.

Another update, Barnaby will be bringing his outlaw along for a few demo passes, this car has genuine 8 second potential but he is still shaking it down after an eventful round at the dragstalgia day in the uk. This thing is super super cool!!!! and worth the entry fee alone!!

David Walsh from Co. Meath will be bringing his Vauxhall Viva to put in a few demo passes. This ex "Pro Rover" series car has been developed and converted to turbocharged rotary power, expect LOTS of tyre smoke, squirly passes and plenty of noise.

Phew, thats the racers sorted, on to the next part!!

Ditto, cool to be so close to the action...first thing I did when I got home was look in the classifieds for a Beetle project!

Glad you guys had a good time, we had a few issues, mostly human error to which i can only apologise ( I'm never running an 8 car ladder final again!!!!), the timing system ran perfectly all day which is a credit to Wayne for sending all the equipment back to Race America who went through every circuit board, sensor and receiver.

All in all another successful event ( i think ) i have no voice left so it must of been, thank you to those from RMS who supported our little event.
