Dead simple, who do you think is the best bodywork/paint outfit? I don't mean easiest paid, I mean best quality job.

KRCR seem to be highly thought of.

Wanted to have a chat with some people around it. If we just always used search the forum would just stop growing.

Its tough because everyone has different opinions on what is a quality paint job and what isn't.

I used to use a chap glen who once owned paintworx in ballymoney.

He was expensive, he would charge 250 to prime and paint a front bumper for instance, a whole car you were looking into the thousands, but his work was flawless, he stood over every bit of work he did but he vanished into thin air where ever he disappeared too.

Just remembered his second name was mcclelland. Anyone know what the crack is with him? I would like a few things painted and hes the only person I would trust.

Sounds like how I would be, I've never understood people who are just happy enough with paint jobs. The amount of times you see jobs with flat spots and the colour doesn't match, is ridiculous.

big_pete, I think it makes a huge difference when mechanics or bodywork lads are real petrol heads and really care about cars.

Thanks for that jayk, might take you up on that at some stage.

Also heard good things about J&W in Belfast?

Plus Alan is a true gentleman. Not just a job to him, he can still say "thats a hell of a car" once painted. And looks after you after, always has time to chat

Checked some of their work on their website, they have worked on some top machines. Their work looks good, seeing it in the flesh is the best way to judge though. I agree with you on that, don't understand people getting cheap paint jobs.

Plus, if you leave something in and he says "bring me it thursday morning, ill start it then" he will do just that, most paint shops dont give a toss once its through there gates.

If you want to see some of his work call down here. He did some work on the wife's evo that's here. And is doing a bare shell spray on my chevette next once I have it sprayed. Plus the hundreds of my customers ive sent his way including eager there.

I use Declan McVerry in Belleeks outside Newry. Anyone who has seen the cars has always complimented his paintwork. Haven't been anywhere else in years.

Yup, but the jesus the finish that man gets off the gun is incredible. They do say it's all in the prep.

He done slow. Same time as alan done her dc5. As @Nigel AI 600 will also agree the final finish is was no different between them. Both fantastic. Sammy is equally as good as alan(ag) . However it took Sammy a year to return a shell to me and alan 2 weeks . Not much use to the average punter .

There really is nothing between Sammy and Alan they are both absolute talents at spraying, as said sammy can be slow but he's done quite a few cars for me over the year and as such am always happy to wait for him, however last I was up with him at start of the month he was looking to finish up doing work for general public he's fell in with a Porsche specialist and is focussing on that and his fishery and chicken farm

I can't comment on anything bar I remember seeing a couple of cars done by paintworx (place in bangor I think) at a castlewellan car show, an s2000 stood out which had wheels and this and that but the paint which looked great in photos in real life looked like it had been done by rattle cans, it was shockingly bad.
