BmsaXcUIIAAiWSH.jpg

[The most famous corner in Irish rallying]

Declan Boyle (Impreza S12B) leads by 9.6s from Donagh Kelly (Focus WRC '08). Sam Moffett (Fiesta WRC) is third, Alan Ring (Impreza S12B) is fouth. Daragh O'Riordan punctures and lost 90 seconds.

In the national section Rob Duggan in a Honda Civic sets a ferious time to lead from Wesley Patterson and Declan Gallagher

Unfortunatley, in the FIA Historic rally, Lucky Battistolli isn't so lucky and doesn't finish SS1 in the beautiful Lancia 037.

I'm gutted we're not there @seanbob. Would love to see Kelly take the International win, to mix up the championship a bit. Although I'd love Ring or O'Riordan to blitz it. In the Nationals, keen to see if anyone can stick with the flying milkman. Patterson seems to have hit the groove, finally.

SS6 Ballaghbeema 2

There's a fight on. Donagh Kelly is just a shade over 6 seconds behind Declan Boyle, after winning two stages in a row. Sam Moffett looks secure in 3rd, with O'Riordan still playing catch up from this morning's puncture on the first run over the Gap. Alan Ring remains 5th.

International Overall:

1. Boyle
2. Kelly +6.1
3. Moffett +41.6
4. O'Riordan +1.40.6
5. Ring +1.48.4

Still pending a result for RCT in the international section :worried: Everyone else on the time sheets is through. He was having a storming day as well in the Peugeot 208 R2 and had set a fastest time or so in his class.

Modifieds/Nationals at end of SS6:

1. Roy White MG ZR
2. Declan Gallagher Toyota Starlet +4.2
3. Fergus O'Meara Ford Escort MK2 +5.8
4. Ed Murphy Ford Escort +6.0
5. Wesley Patterson Ford Escort MK2 +6.5
6. Barry Meade Ford Escort MK2 +8.5

Yes, that's only 8.5 seconds covering the top 6 nationals/modifieds! :scream:

SS7 and End of Day 1.

Declan Boyle fights back against the attacking Donagh Kelly to set fastest time on the last stage of the day and add a slender 1.8s to his lead. Moffett still holds third, but Daragh O'Riordan has closed to a minute behind. Great fight back, considering this morning's puncture. Ring's steady day continues and is fifth.

Sadly RCT didn't complete SS6 and is out of the event. Judging by his times, it was a very promising drive, on what was a challenging set of stages.

International:

1. Declan Boyle - Subaru Impreza WRC
2. Donagh Kelly - Ford Focus WRC +7.9
3. Sam Moffett - Ford Fiesta WRC + 48.3
4. Daragh O'Riordan - Ford Fiesta WRC +1.48.3
5. Alan Ring - Subaru Impreza WRC +2.09.0

National/Modified:

1. Roy White - MG ZR
2. Wesley Patterson - Ford Escort +7.4
3. Declan Gallagher - Toyota Starlet +18.5
4. Fergus O'Meara - Ford Escort +21.5
5. Ed Murphy - Ford Escort +27.4

Day 2 has begun. Start list and start order is here: http://results.rallyofthelakes.com/2014/index.php?

The day began at 07.40 with another run through the Gap. As far as I can see Daragh O'Riordan has not posted a time. He's either incredibly slow, out or didn't start. No idea yet. At the sharp end, another fastest time for Boyle which helps stretch the lead over Donagh Kelly.

Another unreal time from Duggan in the class 11, 1600cc Civic in the modifieds. He was second fastest, slower only to Roy White and 13 secs off the slowest WRC. In a Civic!

Roy White still leading, from Patterson, who is ahead of Gallagher.

Today's stages

SS8 Molls Gap 3 17.91km (FCD: 07.46)

ss9 Borlin 1 21.05km (FCD: 09.05)

ss10 Lough Allua 1 19.80km (FCD: 10.23)

ss11 Fuhiry 1 15.70km (FCD: 11:05)

ss12 Borlin 2 21.05km (FCD: 13:15)

ss13 Lough Allua 2 19.80km (FCD: 14:33)

ss14 Fuhiry 2 15.70km (FCD: 15:15)

ss15 Molls Gap 4 (Reversed) 15.00km (FCD: 16:50)

Mixture of big stage mileage (or kms!) across some legendary tests lie ahead, with the prospect of coming down the Gap for the last stage. Plenty of rallying left in this one.

Stage 10, Lough Allua, has bitten hard. Declan Boyle, rally leader is out. His Impreza has went off the road (crew ok) and he has handed his lead to Donagh Kelly.

Leaderboard at the end of ss10:

Donagh Kelly - Ford Focus WRC
Sam Moffett - Ford Fiesta WRC +49.5
Alan Ring - Subaru Impreza WRC +2.43.6

So, in reality, Donagh Kelly only has to take it steady and he will record his first International Irish Tarmac Championship win. Daragh O'Riordan was forced to retire at the start of the day, when his co-driver, Tony McDaid fell ill.

The modifieds is still a fairly open contest, with Roy White and Wesley Patterson having a right ding-dong. Declan Gallagher not entirely out of the running either.

Modifieds/national

Roy White - MG ZR
Wesley Patterson - Ford Escort +4.6
Declan Gallagher - Toyota Starlet +18.8

Donagh Kelly, who was the rally leader, is off the road on the penultimate stage SS14 Fuhiry. It looks like his hopes of a Rally of Lakes are over. Sam Moffett had been putting pressure on and had taken consecutive wins, now assumes the lead, with Alan Ring in second and Josh Moffett now in third.

No more times for SS14 yet, so as you were in the modifieds/national.

So aft1er a final downhill run through Moll's Gap, there have been no more dramas. Overall results:

Clonakilty Irish Tarmac Championship Round 3

1. Sam Moffett / James O'Reilly - Ford Fiesta WRC
2. Alan Ring / Adrian Deasy - Subaru Impreza WRC (+2.39.3)
3. Josh Moffett / John Rowan - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX (+8.06.2) [Also first in Group N]

In the modifieds/nationals, Declan Gallagher's run of wins comes to an end, after a tussle with Roy White and Wesley Patterson.

Clonakilty Irish Tarmac Modified Championship Round 4

1. Roy White / James O'Brien - MG ZR
2. Wesley Patterson / Johnny Baird - Ford Escort MK2 (+33.2)
3. Declan Gallagher / Ryan Moore - Toyota Starlet (+1.01.3)

How does the mg fall into modified?

Presume its due to not being homologated any more

Knockalla is a notch above this for shere bravery up the hill alone lol

Fastest man needs to be rediculously brave

I'd agree with all that @Graham. Knockalla is (probably) my all time favourite stage, followed closely by Moll's Gap. It would be in my fantasy rally line up.

Didn't Fisher hold the record for ages in a Group A Impreza?
