Ducati monster 600 dark

So some of you will remember this bike. I bought it as a winter project for my son and I to fix over winter . The bike was purchased from @rollingstone and the slow work began.

It was a non runner so before we stripped it we needed to get it running. After pulsing the wires in the loom it was apparent that there was a break in the loom so it was removed and placed on the kitchen table to be stripped and repaired ( the wife wasn't amused at all). The broken section of loom repaired and the loom was replaced and after a quick clean of the carbs she fired up.

With it now running the bike was stripped and the engine put on the bench and my son and I went over it replacing all gaskets checked the belts and tensioner.

The front forks were leaking and needed serviced so I let my son do them ( with my guidance) . Was great to see him getting his hands dirty instead of playing games on his ipad.

With the engine all back together and painted it was time to put all the pieces back together .

The tank was in a bad way with paint flaking off so it was rubbed down primed and painted with a rattle can and the results were great , it's not 100% perfect but for something I painted hanging on the washing line I am well please . The front and rear brakes were both stripped and rebuilt with the help of my daughter who wanted to try
hand at turning the spanners.

The bike is now running well and is for mot in 3 weeks time . And then will be up for sale . Really enjoyed the project watching my son and daughter get stuck in.

Ah this is class, remember when you got this. Some job getting it back together like that. Always loved these Monsters, very cool bikes, very rarely see any about. Far cry from the new one.
