Alright Lads,

Later this year i will be starting my first project car. I plan to build a 99 Civic hatch with a H22A7 Accord Type-R Engine.

Right now i am putting together some costings for it and need to know what garages can supply the labour for this job.

This is the 2nd hardest Honda swap there is, with the 1st being a K20 and so it will need a very high level of technical ability to complete it as there is alot involved.

I am also looking at the possibility of the garage supplying the engine as well as the labour so as to keep costs down.

I have heard Tuninworx do this sorta work, anyone recommend them?

Thanks For Reading

I'd imagine cartoyz would be probbaly your best choice, unless Aiautosport will take something on Non Turbo that is :grinning:

i would tackle it not a problem, only thing is i only get nights to work at my own stuff, and another thing is why bother when i can tell yu someone who knows the job off by heart and be honest about it!

i will repost my useful information, minus the bit about "N.I's premium tuner"

gibbonz i know of how hard this swap is, there is a guy in england who specialises in this sort of stuff and is not hard to pay, he does it all day long, so whats hard to most is a gift to him!
he can supply the lot, would maybe even upgrade you to the h24 engine for a few extra shillings!
pm armo for more info as he has a few cars there at the min getting done!

Thanks for the replies guys.

Bibby, thats a great help man. I think i recall Armo talking about that guy in England you mentioned once.

What way would it work, do i bring my car to him or does he come over here? I wouldnt be too keen on talking the car across the water lol

Its just the H22A swap is a different ball game to any B16, B18 etc. To do this job a new shifter assembly needs cut in the floor and the engine harness needs adapting with the civic's current wiring. Its not easy, and thats why i want someone who has done it before successfully to do my swap.

What kind of stuff has he done before? Any k20 swaps at all?

Cheers Dude!

you take the car across the water to him mate, thats the way he works, he has everything in his workshop, and well boy's from here going over to him, have stayed a few days, a week etc in a b&b nearby, had a weeks holiday, then driven there stupidly quick monster home,
well worth the trip!
give armo a shout for more info, he can tell you alot more

simple as this, there will be a h22 turbo eg in the province soon, and sure as hell it will wipe the smile off many's a boy's face!

lol a turbo h22a would eat anything in its path! You can squeeze 4-500bhp out of them no probs. Where is that guy based man?

My mate has a sunday racing EG, stripped to the bone with an ATR H22A7 in it and i tell ya, its the fastest and scariest thing ive ever been in.

If you want it fitted Gibonz gimme a shout, this guy has just finished an H22 swap for me, been using him for 3 years, he has 4 eg`s of his own a K20, a B20 vtec and an H22. His latest is a K24 EG. We can have the car taken over on a transporter and delivered back when done. He also owns an MOT centre so MOT can be done there too if required.

He should have engine and all parts instock, including looms, shifter linkages, engine mounts, shafts and all other parts which are custom made for this swap all on the shelf.

I'm considering an engine swap for my french breadstick further down the line...

Since I like to be "different" when moddin my car, what would fit in the Clio apart from the 172 conversion?

Obviously after something that will be quicker than a 172... no point going to the bother of a swap if you're just making the car into another "replica".

Was thinking maybe a bigger dci engine from a megane or laguna and tunning it... I haven't looked into this in depth yet so be gentle lol

I was thinking of getting one when I pay off the finance on the dci, but then I thought, oh cr@p, I'll just have a "standard" car again.

I've my Clio modded the way I want it, just needs the engine to go with the looks IMHO :grinning:

lmao @ the seats out comment - I was thinking of putting an ICE setup in there but decided to just go for a boot install & full retrim ;)

A lot of work put into the car hence why I'm asking about an engine for the future - might just go with a 172 conversion if a bigger diesel is going to create problems, just have to look into it and see what comes up :grinning:

That's the whole idea;
to be different & have a "modified car" instead of buying something that a certain % of the uk would have on their Clio too lol

Just trying to find out what will actualy fit in the car

Well that's it. Diesel to petrol conversion requires a new loom, new dash, new fuel lines, new fuel pump, probably need a back axel, I reckon front suspension set up is different too. And that's just off the top of my head and I know nothing about Clios!

Well even converting a 1.6 to a 172 needs the loom, ECU, fuel lines, fuel pump, brakes, suspension all uprated.

Apparently the 172 conversion would probably be less hassle than a bigger diesel
172 hybrid springs to mind
