^^ Yip, with it being so slippy and twisty, and a little confusing, hardly anyone beat the max of 90 seconds.
I'm only noticing there have been a few fails over-ruled in the Martins 1 test tho... dont know whats happened there... Not that it would have made any difference to us anyway tho.lol.
I was sure we got it 100% right on our second run but we got a fail then too. At least I was consistent lol
While we were waiting to start the Martin's test the previous two cars failed the test in a spectacular way.
We nearly removed our rear bumper on Armstong 2 and had to do Norman's 2 with it almost hanging off but we got a minute to clip it back of at least partially while waiting to start Martin's 2. There was very little grip in the afternoon at all but it all added to the craic. That Mk1 escort was flying all day.
Great to hear positive feedback guys, makes the past couple of weeks of not much sleep worthwhile!
I had a great time out in the mx5 as first car. That Armstrongs test had been kept secret by my dad for setup etc as the farmers had done the work for us so I was going in totally unaware of what it was like, I loved it. I would echo comments on Normans test, I helped set it up and still didnt have a clue what was going on driving it!
Yea I was sure I passed Norman's the second time as well and thought it felt like a decent time by our standards and then i seen 'Fail' on the results. I'm pretty sure the error was I only went 180 degrees around the second 360 instead of 540 but its so hard to remember. The first time however we ballsed it up in several sections and basically gave up but really really enjoyed it the second time. As for Martins we had two good runs through it but where the wrong side of one cone on both occasions and lost between 60 and 70 seconds and around 15 positions due to the penalties but at the end of the day the craics a lot more important than the result and there was heaps of it. Will definitely be back next year
Finally got the car MOT'ed and the entry should be in with @RallyCiaran for Rathfriland.
If anyone is interested in getting a lanes car, I could be persuaded to part with my Saxo. Its got a cage, seats and belts and plenty new parts fitted. Let me know if interested

^^ It was a great event last year with really nice tests. Long and with plenty of twists and turns already in the lanes / yards, so only needed the odd chicane or 360 to keep the times sensible. They're on the ball this year with the Regs and PR via Facebook etc.
Meanwhile, Rathfriland MC had seemed very quiet on the run up to their event, but have pulled in a super entry all the same, especially since it's only their second year at it.
Currently trying to arrange getting the MX5 home from england so should be back in time for Larne as long as I can get a hydro and guards sorted in time..
Good days entertainment yesterday but you'd miss @John_MK5 flinging the wee MX5 about the place but plenty of others there to fill in for him. A few penalties and slip ups cost a few people places but some good battles for position down the list.
A few pics
Don't know if @DavyC is pee'd off more for hitting the cone or the fact I was there and caught it on camera
I had felt the steering getting heavy at times and then it had started to feel very odd, especially at speed approaching a sqL in test 3 I think it was. Stopped at the end of the test to find the PAS fluid had emptied itself through the rack and the gearbox mount had sheared away from the gearbox, leaving a large hole in the top of the box. End of rallying! Nursed the car towards lisburn and all was grand although the clutch was either on or off in 1st and 2nd making for interesting take offs. Came off Jcn 6 of the motorway and got stopped at 2 sets of red lights. lost the clutch altogether after the first set. had to switch her off, select first and start her in gear at the second set. then only had 1st gear though thankfully I haven't far to go from there! at this point there was also a horrible screeching sound which I assumed was the clutch being chewed by something. turns out that with the gearbox no longer mounted to the chassis, and no doubt helped by some rather jerky starts, the engine had twisted and the alternator pulley was eating into the chassis leg!
^^^ Ugh No no no!.. That is p1sh @swansty . Sorry to see that. And so early on too. That's it rebelling against all these threats of being sold on. Hope you get her sorted soon. It sort of makes our damage look insignificant...
..We had a great days rallying with just the two 'minor' mistakes... 1st one being that cone that @peespeed caught... couldnt figure out why I was making a balls of a straight forward manoeuvre, then looked up to see a dirty great big lens pointing down... Thats some face all the same!lol. The next mistake was going a bit too hard through some buildings where you had to keep left of a cone... didnt quite get her back in again before the wall. The radiator is just behind the bonnet's edge so very lucky to get away with so little damage. The plastic bumper will even do ok for now.
Thought the event itself was great. All ran very smoothly and loved the last test. Some great battles as said, with positions swapping back and forth, and was good to see the FWD's doing so well. @FM155 done well to get the 1400 MG up among the higher horse power stuff too, and to a class win.
