Was a great day! They added 4 chicanes so it was a lot more technical! Rear brakes didn't like it but! Burnt 1 rear pad out.

Had a good race with paul killen in a mark 2 escort! I'll throw a few videos up later or tomorrow

definitely puts it into perspective how quick your car is compared to something thats 4 or 5 times your budget, if not more

Cheers men, makes it all worth while in the end..Pete how much do you think it costs to build a proper mark 2 escort like that one there.Think he won his class easily too in the down rally

I would amagine you can keep spending and spending! He seems to be a real pilot. Would you try rallying in the bonda? At least at kirky if you fallof the track 90% of the time you come back on. You fall off rallying you hit a tree!

Nice Steering Tony, no wonder you were smiling at the end. Didnt look like there was a lot of grip, was it cold or damp?

Would love to get into rallying but as you know its an expensive game, an i just couldnt afford it either..My car is msa logged an i think the previous owner did some sort of a rally in it..Not sur what class it would fall into thou with the different engine?

Oh I know what it costs, and I know Pauls co-driver very well. I dont know what your overall costs are, but I am hoping it was a LOT less than most Gp4 escorts.

At the start it was very very slippy john, that was my 5th run out there an it had well dried up..Them extra chicanes made it worse cause everyone was cutting over the grass in places

Modified probably and 2.0 with 4 valves per cylinder or something like that. If its already msa log booked that should be fine. Just ask one of the scruitners for advise on it. Different engine wouldn't be a problem. Sure there is a corsa a friend helped build that has a Honda 1.6 16v vtec engine in it, and then there is a corolla twin cams with a vauxhall engines in the like the 1.6 16v and redtops etc.

at the very least you are looking at £80k, but you wont be winning anything in that car.

The likes of Camillus Bradleys, is rumoured to be around the £140k mark.

Much cheaper to buy a good Gp4 after a few years of competition and refresh it than it is to build one from scratch. The good bit is that everything is available off the shelf, but there is a massive difference between the usual bits you can find on ebay and the bits they are using on the cars.

We calculated the other day what it would cost to build an absolutely top flight MG Midget for our sort of events and the parts list alone worked out at over £40k, as you know yourself, there are very very few people that could pay for the labour involved in the build of such a car.

Oh right pete:laughing: Well lets just say id be no where near that sort of money lol

Its still not cheap at all thou, even to build what i have done..It just seems to be never ending. Iv to buy new rear pads now an possibly new calipers too, then theres othe bits an pieces to do..

In the end thou its all worth it, cause if i wasnt doing this now id be on the sauce every weekend lol
