@CHARLIE11 cheers it suits it better than I imagined.
@Ben 6 yeah we'll take both up. I've to mot prep the other one for gona Castlewellan and Fitted so that's up next.
@KevM haha thanks. This one's a lot rougher than the other Golf but it's a good laugh and has tidied up the bodywork well. All made possible with so very good friends and family
Back at it again tonight. Got most of the list ticked off. H&R adapters fitted (can't stress enough how much I love the quality of these), wheels on, bumpers on, badges fitted, did some stencils, set the camber to -1.5 on the front etc. All that's left is to fit the fog blanks, side markers and front under tray so it's pretty much done.
The front should settle another 5 or 10mm as the coilover and top mounts are new so ill be happier then
@Gambit I know what you mean but this was built with what we had and what was dirt cheap. If i'd any sort of budget I'd have went 17s but we'd the tyres sitting in this size. I think it needs the chrome rear badge to lift it though
Still have this wee cab. A boring update more so to keep a record.
Passed it's MOT retest tonight after failing on a split track rod end boot and a "corroded/pitted front disc offside outer".
I replaced the track rod end and stuck 2 new discs on the front. When doing so I discovered no bad corrosion or pitting to either disc.
These are the failed discs
During the retest I brought up about the discs showed them to them. The tester agreed they should not have failed but once you leave the centre you can't complain. Total ***** but not much I can do now.
Mileage is 132212 so just over 1000miles in a year. The underside is still weld free and everything is great condition. Not the norm for a mk3 Golf lol
The exhaust broke where it turns over the back axle. The backbox swung down and the tip melted the bottom of the rear bumper.
I fixed the exhaust and replaced all 3 exhaust mounts but the melted bit really annoyed me. I trimmed the recess upwards to remove most of the damage but didnt remove it all as I didnt want the recess to be huge.
I had a mk5 GTI backbox lying so wacked the tips off it, tacked them together and onto my standard backbox. Makes a much nicer edition to the back end. Also the car is still mint underneath. I really should waxoil it as much as I hate the stuff.
My intermittent starting problem was getting worse and really ****ing me off not being able to trust the car. I fitted a new distributor this morning and it seems to have cured the problem. Coilovers are also back in so now that should see it fit for daily duties over christmas for the girlfriend.
133219 miles now.
