... here is an updated email of the sound problems.
It was on the Monday after our last track day that a letter from the 500MRCI landed on my hall floor. It informed me that the decibel limit for vehicles at our track days was 98Db and not the 95Db that I had been told. This was to be measured with the car at two thirds rev limit, at a 45º angle from the exhaust, at .5 meter distance.
To put this into perspective, this is the MSA regulation limit for rally cars on road stages. The great majority of cars that attend our events should meet this limit.
We intend to adopt the following stance, with the agreement of the 500MRCI. If anyone's car is slightly over the limit, say up to 100Db, we will allow them to run on the proviso that the car is silenced for the next event. I cannot see this policy being abused since most cars will not be over the 98Db limit anyway. However, if anyone's car is way over the limit, they will not run.
