Picked this up this afternoon. It is 1989 with 125k. Few rough bits but lovely driving thing.

Will keep the M3 special/clean, and perhaps save a few quid on petrol as I'm putting £85 a week though it at the minute!

Plans are classic insurance (any good local companies recommended?), I'll give it a service. I'll also sort out a set of wheels and subtle drop in a month or 2.

C+C welcome :grinning:

Think I saw this advertised and was tempted to call lol Health to drive, wee bit lower on those wheels would be class

It has been tempting me for a few weeks too. It is by no means mint, but still respectable looking.

Is that was the one that was for sale in Stock Bros for ages. Saw it on gumtree the other day and was tempted myself at that price. Never mind the wheels or lowering sort the bodywork and could be worth a few quid in a few years especially as this looks like an early model without the lower body mouldings. Getting very very rare.

Meant to say try EA Davies in Glengormley for classic insurance. £95 for 3000 miles on my Saab.

One of the best made cars of all time, the w124. An uncle used to have a 230te and I reckon the m3 would do more mpg!

I'd say you could be right on the mpg front, but, the merchant will be for wafting around in and not driven hard because it is by no means quick.... I find it quite difficult to drive the m3 sensibly. :p

I can pretend it was bought to keep the miles off the 3, but really, I am an idiot and couldn't resist, I have always wanted one and I had the money there to buy it.

I've always wanted a pre facelift coupe. Looked at one last year as a potential project bu just needed too much doing to it. Bought another 190e instead. Will scratch the W124 itch someday.

Would that have been a silver one outside carryduff somewhere? We looked at one out there last year but it needed way to much work.

You are dead right. I would would have taken a chance with it but the doors were staring to go. Would have been a nice car if done properly. Often wondered if he ever got rid of it. The guy selling it had a rather nice W124 estate so was obviously a fan of the breed.
