I'm down for Gregorlough :grinning: , quick question tho, what do I do in between stages? Good 4/5 hour gap iirc...?
About a 3hr gap on gregorlough. With roads staying closed you will have to hang about your junction or maybe move things around if residents need access etc.

Right so:

Moffet switching the fiesta to RRC for the COI

Skoda have Wiegand & Lappi in

the big one for me is Bryan Bouffier coming

Also heard a whisper that if Breen's car doesn't perform on the circuit of kerry he wont be doing COI

I'd be surprised if Breen's car doesn't perform. I mean, if he can't set the car up for Irish tar, Abbring has no hope

Robert Cosani must be entering too, given he's out at Kerry at the weekend. Would love to see Bouffier over

Apparently Bouffier said in the post-Acropolis press conference that he was coming to Ireland to take on Breen! Sammy Hammil has a piece in the Belfast Telegraph along these lines (y)

Belfast Met Mechanics Ramp up their Skills for Circuit of Ireland

Belfast Met Group shot.jpg

Circuit of Ireland organisers and Belfast Metropolitan College have joined forces in a new for 2014 partnership which offers motor vehicle students the opportunity to be ‘Associate Scrutineers’ and ‘Assistant Mechanics’ at this year’s Circuit of Ireland Rally, 17-19 April.

Belfast Met’s Millfield Campus will play host to the Circuit’s Scrutineering base, giving the opportunity for up to 20 students from the college’s Level 3 Extended Diploma in Vehicle Technology and Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance to assist a highly experienced Circuit of Ireland team of scrutineers headed up by George Kennedy and his deputy Gillian Magee. A number of students will also work alongside rally teams at the event’s Titanic Quarter based Service Park.

Brian George, Head of School for Engineering and Construction, explained the range of roles the students would be taking on:
“Our motor vehicle students will help established scrutineers carry out a full range of vehicle tests including weighing cars, noise testing, marshalling and coordinating and monitoring driver clothing and equipment. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain real life experience which will enhance their future career opportunities. This is a unique and hugely exciting opportunity and Belfast Met would like to thank the Circuit of Ireland organisers for their support in this forward thinking and practically focussed partnership which will benefit both the organisation and our Belfast Met students.

“Our talented student teams are very much looking forward to working on state of the art rally cars from all over the world and meeting competitors and their team management who are at the very top of their sport. An integral element of our Extended Diploma in Vehicle Technology is attendance at motorsport events and this is a great chance to integrate practical hands-on training which will count towards students final diplomas. ”

Circuit of Ireland Event Director Bobby Willis said he was delighted to help facilitate this important new student training initiative:

“The Circuit of Ireland is utilising a number of locations in Belfast including Titanic Quarter for Rally HQ and Service Park and Belfast City Centre which will feature Thursday evening’s Ceremonial Start. We’re delighted to set up our scrutineering hub at Belfast Met’s Millfield Campus. The College’s vehicle workshop offers excellent facilities in a central location and the Circuit’s scrutineering team are looking forward to working alongside our student ‘associate scrutineers’ and ‘assistant mechanics.’ I believe this partnership is a first for any European Rally Championship event this year and the Circuit is delighted to be leading the way in community and educational partnerships.“

The Qualifying Stage of the Rally will be based at Ballycultra Village, Ulster Folk & Transport Museum on Thursday 17 April, followed by a ceremonial start at Belfast City Hall that evening.

Spectator Stages will take place in Newtownards on Friday 18 April and Lisburn on Saturday 19 April. Downpatrick will be a regroup area on Friday while on Saturday Banbridge and Hillsborough will play host to teams regrouping. (exact times below)
Organisers are in the process of finalising arrangements for what promises to be a bumper weekend of motorsport and the management team is calling for additional volunteers to join the existing team of marshals. For more details and to register log onto www.circuitofireland.net or call the volunteer hotline 07732 612261.

Rihanna’s Island the destination for Circuit of Ireland Volunteer Winners
Sun, sea, sand….. and the Service Park at Sol Rally Barbados!

That’s what’s on offer for two lucky 2014 Circuit of Ireland marshals courtesy of the Barbados Rally Club and the island’s Tourism Development Corporation. All volunteers involved in marshalling at the upcoming Discover Northern Ireland Circuit of Ireland Rally (17-19 April) will be entered into a special draw to win a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience the Caribbean’s biggest annual motorsport event, Sol RB14 which takes place May 30 to June 1. Two local people will join a US winner and the prize will include return flights from London Gatwick to Barbados, accommodation and a shared rental car.

Thanking the Barbados Rally Club and the island’s TDC for this very special opportunity, Circuit of Ireland Event Director, Bobby Willis said: “Marshals are the unsung heroes of our sport and give up a huge amount of free time on a voluntary basis to ensure that the Rally runs smoothly and safely. It’s marvellous to be able to offer two of our motorsport volunteers who help out at this year’s Circuit such a stunning prize.”

Neil Barnard of the Barbados Rally Club said, “We’re delighted to renew our association with the Circuit of Ireland and promote our event and Barbados as a destination to the rally-centric Irish. Ireland has been our principal growth area in terms of competitors with more than 60 new participants in the past three years. Although the Circuit is longer than Sol RB14, it is similar in character – a tarmac event run on closed public roads which takes rallying to the people. We’re looking forward to welcoming our winners and we can promise an exciting event, great weather and fantastic scenery.”

Urging new marshals to sign up and be in with a chance to win this ‘tropical’ prize, Circuit of Ireland Manpower Manager, Raymond Linton said, “All volunteers over the age of 17 will automatically be entered to win our ‘Rally’ adventure to Barbados with two lucky marshals picking up the prize package.

“We are still looking for marshals for this year's event. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get close to the action, work alongside some of the most experienced motorsport officials in the country and become part of a team led by experienced marshals who have been working on the event for many years."

"We would encourage any potential volunteers to register through our website as soon as they can. The marshal registration can be accessed from the marshals tab online at www.circuitofireland.net or alternatively you can call our volunteering hotline on +44 (0)7732 612261."

Circuit of Ireland Rally organisers will release competitor entry lists early this week.
