Seems like the FIA want to ban interconnected front
and rear suspension asap . .will hurt Merc the most
Found this explanation of what it does in laymans terms,

remember hydrolastic suspension on austin morris cars? (there was an austin 1300 made for the american market).. it was on the principle that when the front hit a bump, the bag of fluid compressed, pushing more fluid to the back, raising the back to the new level. it kept the car level on the road. well fric is a bit like that but in reverse. under braking, when the downward pressure forces the nose down, fluid is forced into the front, raising it and lowering the back. this keeps the car level and maintains the effect of the diffuser. not sure if explanation is perfect, but basically, it does affect the aero performance of the car.

I thought that was already gone?

Merc have been pushing for more active aids, like traction control, etc... Not less... What we need is less gadgets and complicated rubbish, and more racing... :worried:

All teams have a FRIC suspension system.

Definitely banned for next year. FIA want it banned now but teams will vote on whether to keep it for the rest of the year. Has to be a unanimous vote though.

Think McLaren pushed for it to be banned.

Heard Max Chilton saying after the race he was lucky to be alive after a wheel from Kimis car just missed his head.

Won't be long until there's a fine for teams who's wheel tethers don't do their job properly.

Not just to protect drivers but also marshals & fans.

Also wonder if the new 18'' wheels will slow pitstops down?

Why? Extra weight?

Doubt there will be much difference, as the less rubber will of set the extra alloy weight.

Difference it weight will be minimal

Only noticing this, I'm surprised after last year's uproar that lotus are using the current car to test the new wheels.

I know it doesn't benefit them was the next 2 season and probably not at all when they come to be used, but still.

Say if it was merc. The ferrai and redbull teams would be shouting by now

It seems Mclaren , Red Bull and Merc are removing their
respective FRIC systems so as to be not deemed having
an illegal car from Germany on . .

The FRIC isn't illegal until 2015 if I remember correctly, these teams are removing it so that they don't get a protest against them, no word on whether or not Force India/Williams/Lotus etc will remove theirs, if they don't you can pretty much guarantee a protest from Merc/RB/McL

Honestly, the Gods obviously hate Lewis even more than @Woodcutter does :p

Love to see Williams up there again.

And Ric ahead of Vettel the (perhaps not quite so after all) great. Again

See how far Lewis can get tomorrow, has his work cut...

Rosberg was very fast, I think it will be hard for Lewis to beat him unless he breaks down again.

Think Rosberg should have it tomorrow.

If like previous hot races, the Williams cars will have trouble with the rear tyres unless they have made improvements with that. Hope Bottas is on the podium again, great talent.

There is an outside chance of rain tomorrow which would be fun.

Lewis would do well to get top five.

Nico would have to majorly mess up, or break down, to not win.

Will still be fun to see how far up Lewis can get. Catch the Williams cars?

Has anyone said yet if he will start from 15th, or from the pitlane? Yesterday there was talk about the pitlane...

Mercedes have changed the gearbox on Lewis' car so a five place grid penalty, no word yet about whether he'll start from the pittance or not.

They want to start on the grid but change his brake material.

Currently raining at Hockenheim…

Lewis will start 20th on the grid.

Change of brake discs from Brembo to Carbon Industry.

Thought it was an awesome race today, even tho it was only highlights on BBC.

But 17 places and 4 stops for Hamilton to finish 3rd was great, possibly could have got 2nd but had the damaged wing.

Just an awesome awesome battle between Ricardo and Alonso and the smile he has after the race talking and watching it, just loves being there and makes the best out of everything
