I see Mercedes will go for Alonso or Bottas if Hamilton doesn't want to stay on after this year.

Just read the rest there... If what is written there is correct (the veracity of Autosport is not always the best, cough...), then it looks like a complete and utter shambles... Unless it is some sort of joke of course :grinning:

So what? Why different rules for one team than the rest? If the others are allowed to slot in 2015 upgrades over time, instead of at the start of the season, because they think they will not be able to get all of them done in time for February, then why on earth should Honda only be allowed whatever they can fit in by February? That article makes exactly zero sense, lol :grinning:

But hey, F1 + politics = logic goes out the window.

Well, not like Autosport have never been wide off the mark before, maybe we should reserve judgement :innocent:

if that was the case why would honda even want to get mixed up in this spectacular dung heap of a circus?

Was only brought to the FIA attention just before Christmas and so they reckon it's only fair honda 'submit' there finished powerunit at the end of February just like merc etc done last year.

Honda will be submitting a power unit to the 2015 spec, same as everyone else. Makes no difference what anyone did last year.

If that article is correct (big if!), it seems like Ferrari/Renault have found a "loophole", allowing them to space out some of the 2015 upgrades ("tokens") throughout the year, because they think they will not be able to implement them all by February. So they would rather not seal the engine spec by February.

Obviously, if they are allowed to do that, and Honda is not, then Honda would be at a massive disadvantage. As they would have to seal their engine spec in February, regardless if they have been able to implement all allowed 2015 upgrades ("tokens") or not. While the others would be able to add in further engine upgrades ("tokens") later on in the season.

Shambles would be the best word for it...

Again, of course, assuming that massive big "if" above...

Going by the test in abu dhabi, honda haven't got everything in order just yet. Though be good to see the powerunit when it's running at full song. Wether it's close to the merc engine is another thing!

I think its unfair to Honda. They should be allowed to change their engine like everyone else. Not being in F1 last year already puts them at a disadvantage, not an advantage like the FIA is making out imo.

Looks like the rules will be changed to allow them to develop their engine:

Only fair IMO

F1zone said:
The sport's 2015 engine suppliers already got together this week in Geneva, to discuss Bernie Ecclestone's desire for a different engine formula for 2016.
According to Italy's Autosprint, however, Honda also raised the 'unfreeze' issue at the meeting.

Correspondent Roberto Chinchero revealed: "Honda has been heard.

"At the meeting in Geneva ... the FIA decided to reconsider its position with regards to Honda.

"Taking note of their (Honda's) concerns, the question remains open and will probably be defined at a later meeting between the manufacturers that has been set in two weeks time."

Chinchero continued: "There are also rumours of a 'plan B' for the Japanese.

"If the FIA keeps its current position, McLaren could protest against each technical update that is brought to the track by the other manufacturers, invoking the technical regulation prohibiting multiple homologations of the power unit," he added.

I'd be surprised if they didn't make allowance for Honda... the second Honda make a demand (and it is pretty unfair lets face it) they are going to meet it, especially one as reasonable as this.. they want a another big manufacturer/money back in after all
