Have updated the unseeded entry list for the Cookstown A29 Targa Rally in my earlier post

For example there were a few scrutineers at queens and i know two of them quite well and was talking to them and one was just finished having an arguement with a competitor that snow/winter tyres weren't aloud and are forbiddded and the other said that snow/winter tyres were completely fine since they are a road legal tyre.

Winter tyres are perfectly legal for targa rallies, any road tyre is allowed.

I had winters on for the boxing day rally but they were more use for the road sections than the tests TBH..

You boys can fair complicate a hydraulic handbrake setup. .625 compbrake handbrake jointed into the rear brakes on standard 1.8 calipers. locks up every single time lol

For me running a 1600 a .625 did frig all, in fairness the sliders were ceased on the calipers. Had the ibiza calipers sitting and new pads for them. Including the .5 cylinder it was cheaper than getting new calipers.

I built a 1600 car 2 months ago. Standard rear discs and pads, compbrake hydro with a .625. Once again locks every time. You boys must be doing something wrong lol

Like I said the rear calipers werent exactly in 100 percent working order, so not exactly doing something wrong. Had the ibiza calipers sitting, they fitted. Put the .5 on as we didnt want to take any chances of it not working. Also seems to have sorted it locking the front up at the touch of the brake pedal.

Anyways, entry form filled in for Larne to be sent in the morning. Hopefully still get an entry. Fingers crossed I dont stack the car this time!

Just incase anyone else nearly overlooked it, the UAC's Retro Targa is the week after Larne's Laharna Lanes. It's not listed on ANICC website among the other Targas and it's been very quiet on the PR front. I didnt realize they've reduced it to a one day event like the rest of the Targas too, so I might stick an entry in here. It would cost £135 (plus a wee fiver for a marshall) for us to enter but I guess that would cover membership for the 'Not The Boxing Day' event.

Meanwhile, excitements building for the weekend!..

I've managed to get myself into a navigators seat for the retro so glad to be getting to do both events. I suppose it saves a bit of money for the boxing day entry too!

It's never happened to us Mark. It's a tough one to call, but of all the rallies we've taken part in, there's often a couple of 'no shows' or 'Did not starts'.. I'd guess there's a fair chance you'd get to run being the 1st on the reserve list. Have you far to travel to get to Larne?

I live in near Ballymena so about 20 miles, I still have to tax and insure the car for the day, I don't want to be doing that if there's a chance I wont be going out. Your right it is a tough one to call.
