Would dearly love to do this as it's cheap, close by to me and the lad could double entry with me, but I think I'm going to have to concentrate on finishing my garage and other house related jobs that need to be done prior to winter settling in properly.

@Liam Shaw yes much easier tests than normal autotests. Enough to get yours days entertainment but not too much that a beginner couldnt do it. Will keep them all as wide open as we can and all will be on sealed surfaces. To give you an idea heres two videos, you will see a good selection of cars competing and give you an idea of the tests

It was touch and go for a while. I had it in for a complete overhaul there recently. Full polybush kit, coilovers, 4 branch, new stainless exhaust, a working handbrake, cambelt, water pump, discs and pads, repaint in 040 white, clutch, crankshaft oil seals, camshaft seals etc.

MADMC are back to Swatragh this year with their Targa Rally, sponsored by Glenview Trophies, on November 21st. Signing on will take place in Friel's Bar in Swatragh with scrutineering held at Storm Accessories on the Garvagh Road in Swatragh. First car will be away at 10am and 14 tests on gravel, tarmac and concrete surfaces are planned

Good luck on your 1st event!.. Did I read you have some Nav Rally experience? Dont be expecting any difficult road section directions in Targas. They're generally kept simple, and are intended to get you from test to test as easily as possible. The test diagrams themselves can vary from event to event and rarely represent a close scale to the test. They really only show the correct path through farm yards / buildings / pylons / chicanes.

Cheers, we'll just be taking it handy for the first one! The Astra is far from ideal for it, we could do with something a little more nimble but as it's kitted out for the night navs and has a sump guard it'll do for this event to we see how we get on. We have some night nav experience, we won novice class 3 last year and just won semi-expert class 2 this year. We also did stage rallying for a number of years but stopped due to the costs a few years back and just did night navs to get out at something!

The test diagrams are a total unknown to us as have no experience of auto-tests but hopefully pick it up okay!
