My evo 7 WIP

So I was bored of having no good car to clean or buy stuff for, wanted an Evo X but nothing stood out, but a 7 did in Scotland, called the seller on the Friday evening, booked the flight Saturday an home Saturday night

So it's 01 Evo 7. Good slap of history

Drove well an by the sellers add, had missed out an loads of things the car had that would have made the car more expensive

On the boat 11.30

Next day I took it for a run an 1 rough set of pictures

So 1st thing I spotted was the 8 bumper and wheels, the spotted the spoiler an said it's got half an 8 kit
Then seen the K-sport front brakes, inside has 8MR interior including dash, clocks an dash loom/ECU

Turns out the car has all 8MR running gear, from engine, box, transfer box, diff, clocks, dash, loom, ECU, only thing isn't 8 is shell and bonnet

But I always wanted a yellow Evo so that's were it started

So off came the 8 and fibreglass crap

And my 7 kit lifted with a set of 18" GTR's

Then the father in law got wind of the job he never knew he had painting it

Front bumper roughly mounted up, missing brackets to hold the bumper, currently on route from Japan, bumper was rubbed an filled, it was in rough shape to be fair

Discs been sent off for a skim, 2 piece discs were just a bit scabby from lying up, actually called the engineer guy that said there ready, so will get them this week hopefully

Trial fitted the wings after removing the FPR rubbish

Then he got some paint mixed to see how it looked

But I thought it was to Goldy/dark so I got a brighter yellow

So up to now we have the passenger side all ready for paint, doors, wings an bumper all in primer ready also

Regretted selling my palma red 8MR last year or the year before. This 1 will be kept. Have plans for this 1

He likes the darker shade that he sprayed a bit of the A an B pillar but I wanted a brighter in your face yellow.
Car was originally tarmac black, then painted yellow at some stage, then grey in 2014. So I was toying with Bayside blue, midnight purple. But said I always wanted a yellow evo, so in 2-3 weeks. Hopefully it will be painted. But I'm stepping back from this now an letting him work away, I wanna work on my btcc cavalier build

Me 2, father in law's 70th birthday today, he has to paint 2 more Cars for me after the Evo I may hurry up

4 doors now ready for paint
The above short vid isn’t the both sides finished. He’s gonna paint the doors with 4-5 light coats just to give the doors a good base. Finish the inside of the doors completely. Refit the doors
Paint the wings with 4-5 light coats, refit then we will flag the both sides and finally run a few final coats over the both sides to finish both sides

I agree. Father in law doesn’t. Goes nuts every time he puts paint on. Gary, never again. Bad coverage I just said ack quit crying an get it on till I get it out before summers away

Wings got a few coats along with the inside of one of the doors
Other doors are getting ready for paint as we speak along with skirts

Front bumper, skirts and wing in gloss
Bumper and skirts are finished
Other wing needs another coat

Then started wet an dry on the doors

2 doors down, 2 to go

We ended up getting a yellow base coat as the gloss was taking loads of coats to kill the primer. 2 hits with yellow base coat and a few with gloss

Inside of the 4 doors are finished. So once the other 2 get rubbed they will be painted and then fitted to the car

Then both complete sides will get a few hits with gloss and will be done

Need a bootlid as the 1 I got is rotten

Why, just why
To hold longer wheel nuts in. They tacked them in place. Bearing itself is fine. Just a lot of sh1te/moisture round the back of the hub

Long studs removed, now I can run without spacers
