That's one mean looking RX7! If I'm totally honest it's not to my taste, but I wouldn't do anything to an RX7 apart from gaze at it. There's been a ton of work done and I can respect it anyway.
We have a show and go dyno shoot out organised too for the 25th October some come down or enter a car
Everything under one roof and only £30 trade stands, prizes live DJ free spectating, if any of you guys are interested come on down, the Rex is hopefully going to be on there, don't be expecting any big power figures from it though, I've done no power building yet YET lol
Trackpirate hoodies, if your interested again contact myself or the page, I'll stress now there is a at the most a 2 week wait, but we will be trying to start stocking them to prevent the waiting.
Well here is what it looks like when your dash falls out of your car, I justvmae the most of this time and gutted it some more
Removed all the rest of the aircon and heater stuff out too don't need any of that. Don't worry have it all covered to de most the windscreen lol
Wires galore, hate them all the we sparkey things lol
Only thing I need to do is get a spare bit of 25mm rad flexi hose to connect the two ends together which went to the matrix. Easy
So now all the crap is out I started mocking up my new dash using cardboard and a few cans of monster
Now that it's mocked up out of card, which is the best way to do this. It's time to transfer into 1mm thick ally sheet and start the cutting and bending and hoping for the best lol
See how I've marked my fold line already, always wear eye protection too when cutting this and using electric tools, my eye found the hard way when I was doing my ducting for the vmount lol
The effort that went into bending this because it was half a foot too long for the sheet bender. Almost tears lol
So now the dash is temporary in place as it's still coming in and out an I need to make fixing points and some sort of edging for it so I don't slice both my legs off
The idea behind the sheet dash is to keep it simple and purly functional, it has a retro feel but with a modern twist to it. Don't need nothing fancy in a track car but still this looks the tits
Well I didn't quite stop there, I started mocking up the center consol too, main reason for this is purely to create a void beneath to house some more switches if need be so the dash area ain't cluttered to **** like a jet cockpit
This took some doing getting it right, one wrong measurement with the hole for the shifter woul of ruined the whole thing
And there she is, my ally fabrication work ready for switches and guages etc
It certainly shows off the 30mm Apache shell shifter more. Very clean lines now and very easy on the eye.
My intentions now is to fit fully switched controls, battery cut off, full defi guage set up and a dash2 display unit with the steering wheel mounted control pack for lights etc all wireless too from sumit racing technology lol
Thanks, thy do look good don't get me wrong, just didn want to ruin it but putting crap all over it, going for a full digi dash set up too so the stock dash don't really cut the cheese for me for this build
Mate I've only just finished the dash lol it's not staying ally, once all the switches are in place and its not going to be cut or modified then it's ready to be sprayed flat black untill the whole car is complete then it's getting flocked. All covered bro
