I don't mind the balancing etc, and kinda Ok with the boost limits.

I'm happy as long as they don't try and take away the advantage the rwd cars have of the start and start messing with things like that

RWD have the good starts but it takes longer to warm the tyres up so FWD so I think the advantage is equalled there.

one things for sure, its proper racing none of this tactical stuff in F1 where pit stops win races

As in the impact, it was a lot lot less than I thought it would be haha.

I've seen the new cars in person at the autosport show in the nec, you would not believe how strongly they are made.
They look built to be hit haha

Belchers crash onboard!

Just shows how strong them cars are at 130mph

Wow!

It's funny how some drivers take their arms off the wheel and hold them tight their chests, yet some still hold the wheel. I was always of the impression you shouldn't hold the wheel because you could break your arm during an impact?!

Yeah, easy to break even your thumb if the wheel spins round.
Only seconds to react there I'd say he was more worried about trying to get the car to turn lol

Sure the whole video is only 14secs long, easy to think should and done this and that when watching it.

When your crashing at 120/130mph your probably only thinking, OH SH*T!

West Surrey Racing’s Colin Turkington snatched a dramatic late pole position at Oulton Park, deposing long-time pace-setter Jason Plato in the dying embers of a truncated qualifying session.

Triple Eight’s Plato had dominated all of the early exchanges in his MG6 GT, sitting atop the times despite being stripped of his best lap for exceeding track limits.

But Turkington set two laps good enough for pole in the final two minutes of the session, and ended up 0.649 clear of Plato.

The session was red-flagged with 10 minutes to go, after an off for Ciceley Racing’s Adam Morgan at Druids. And after it restarted following a lengthy delay, Turkington timed his charge to perfection as spots of rain began to fall.

He then set an even better lap on his final run, and while Plato also improved his best time, he fell just short. But both title contenders were well clear of championship leader Andrew Jordan, who could only manage 13th on the grid in his Eurotech Racing Honda Civic.

Scores of drivers climbed the order at the end of the session, but a host of improvements bit the dust when Motorbase Performance’s Jack Clarke went off at Druids and caused a second red flag with 30 seconds to go.

Honda Racing Team’s Gordon Shedden ended up third ahead of Turkington’s team-mate Rob Collard, with Sam Tordoff next up in fifth.

Rob Austin was an excellent sixth in his Audi A4, with Mat Jackson, Marc Hynes, Tom Ingram and Nick Foster completing the top 10.

Team BMR’s Aron Smith qualified 11th after initially losing his times for failing a ride height test, while his team-mate Alain Menu qualified outside the top 10 for the first time this season in 15th.

He was just behind Honda Racing Team’s Matt Neal, who had his best time taken away for exceeding track limits.

Ollie Jackson only completed three installation laps in his repaired Proton Gen-2, using the throttle body borrowed from team-mate Dan Welch’s car. He then returned to the pits and returned the part to Welch, who completed the qualifying session.

Robb Holland had an off on the exit of Druids in his Rotek Racing Audi S3, escaping relatively unscathed after a scrape with the barrier, while Hunter Abbott also had a spin in his Rob Austin Racing Audi A4 at Cascades in the closing stages.

The marshals extracted Morgan’s Mercedes A-Class from the barriers after his off, and he was able to drive it back to the pits. He ended up 25th on the grid.

Excellent weekend for Turks, and much deserved.Still waiting to hear the stewards decision on Platos "move" for 3rd , even Tim Harvey thought it was dodgy!

Just heard Plato was penalised so Turks has moved up to 3rd!

Cannot like this enough, after Turk giving him the room to pass at lodge then legitimately retaking 3rd for Plato to do what he did was just twatish thing to do. Another sign that when things do not go his way, he throws the toys out of the pram.

BTCC MG boss Ian Harrison says Triple Eight could make RWD switch

1402395173.jpg

British Touring Car MG boss Ian Harrison says his Triple Eight squad could switch to rear-wheel drive if the rules do not change.

Triple Eight has run front-wheel-drive MG6s in the BTCC since 2012, with Jason Plato taking third in the standings last year.

The Oulton Park round last weekend was dominated by rear-wheel-drive machines, in particular Colin Turkington's WSR BMW, and Harrison believes they have an inherent advantage.

"NGTC has been a great success in terms of giving teams the opportunity to compete in the BTCC," said Harrison.

"What has become clear, however, is that as the cars have now been developed close to the maximum of their performance within the regulations, the NGTC technical regs favour a RWD platform.

"Naturally we, like other teams, will have to look to the future to see which RWD platforms are available to us because unless the disparity is addressed, we will certainly be forced down the RWD route.

"If other teams follow suit, the championship runs the risk of not reflecting the automobile industry, which is predominantly FWD."

Rival squad Motorbase has already announced it could run a RWD BMW next year, alongside its FWD Ford Focuses.

What a load of balls!

Something else for them to moan about now that they arent at the front of the grid. funny how Plato managed 2 wins at Thruxton. Different circuits suit different cars, its hardly dominance!

The disparity is against the RWD in that one tap and they spin, normally as a result of Plato

It is true though, the BMW's run a lot better than the others. If they stay out of trouble they can usually get to the front pretty easy.

Obviously there is tracks that favours FWD but if Colin for example was able to finish each race and stay out of trouble, he would wrap up the title very easy.

Colin would probably be the only one that could do that though. There certainly wasnt a BMW dominance 2010-2012 in the 320si's without Turkington.

Honda and MG have been the dominance for the last few seasons due to their development, budget and drivers. This time its just Turkingtons turn.

Well,TOCA have now decided that the WSR cars and Rob Austins Audi will now have to run a longer first gear from Croft onward......really seems like a knee jerk reaction!

Cant see it making that big of a difference. Off the line they will be slower but that is probably about the only time they use first gear.
