Cant speak from personal experience as I dont abs but one of the guys had it in his Yaris and found it braked very well, too well compared what he was expecting so was slowing down earlier than he wanted. Possibly something you could get used to though!

Our ABS hasnt worked since I got the car so cant comment either.

Also, checked my own wheel alignment last night again and corrected figures in previous post.

I depends on then car but in general ABS can be quite dangerous on loose surfaces. Its not a good feeling having the brake pedal vibrate while you get little or no brake response. Depends on your pace/experience though I suppose, but I wouldn't advise trying it.

Conor can you get me any more info on the Yaris setup or whos was it? We now have Rogers Yaris that he used the last few events. We are looking to set it up for the lanes.

And another question i have. Have any of you's tried doing an event with ABS switched on? Does it ever help or is it not a good idea?

IMO far to dangerous to have ABS on during lanes. Alot of the surfaces can be loose or mud so you want your brakes to be working not the pedal kicking back at you

@earney it was Rogers Yaris indeed. As far as I know he did nothing to it lanes prep wise, besides check fluids etc.

yeah i think the abs is still on it so we need to disable it. New suspension arrived the other day so hopefully a but lower and stiffer. Cars a flyer. Maybe looking into getting another set of calipers fitted but apparently handbrake isnt too bad as it is. Comes to autotests tho it may not be as good as we hope for

Happy days, aye I'd heard it was a good going wee car. As someone competing in an MX5 it will be nice to see something different out!

Yup looking forward to it, the MG is in the garage now with a small (!) list of jobs to sort...

And, nice to see @DavyC seeded #1, hope everyone has a good run out.(y)

..Aye, no pressure eh!.. That's seeded mainly based on last years INTBDR results when we came 2nd, so ignoring our few off days during the year, and with no Robert Jnr, then looks like we're 1st off the ramp (along with car 100).

Looking forward to the tests too, tho did I read / hear there's about 16 tests done twice?... that's a lot of notes to do on the morning, best get there sharpish!.. The organisers will have thier work cut out for them too trying keep things running smooth. Fair play to them if they pull it off. I remember the car park was a tad chaotic when cars started to get ready for the off.

I think our wagon is good to go, tho if I had this xmas malarkie past, then I'd chill out on boxing day and have another nosey under it... maybe give the diff guard it's routine sledging.

Aww i wish i was going too. Too much work to be done and no where near enough funds. I'll be there for a while anyway to watch and have a bottle of champagne to pick up from a fb competition. Roll on Springfling!

To be fair all I've to do is dry the seats out (because leaks), an oil service, fix the exhaust and check over the brakes. Handier last years hungover xmas day rebuilding.

They did manage well last year getting it to go smoothly, though the carpark could be fun to line up in!

Hopefully they get to run all 16 twice. 140 cars through each will cut up pretty bad if it's loose.

As long as the weather stays calm on the day everything should run smoothly, I know Ronnie Mitchell and his crew have been out a number of times checking the schedule and tweaking it here and there to make sure it works. The snow last year kinda put a spanner in the works and delayed a few tests

Aye the snow was a bit of a bugger alright but still ran OK in the end. There have been a few tests dropped from rallies throughout the year for weather reasons seeing as the first half of the year was as wet as buggery. We were running winters last year and they were useful on the road sections to some of the tests but completely useless on the tests themselves lol. Prep day tomorrow. :grinning:

Well that was an excellent event. Barring a bit of waiting around at the start and first test I thought it went smoothly. That superdrive test was excellent too, actually all the tests were very good.

Something seems to be quite broken in the back of the mx5 now, time for a tear down!

It was an excellent event and some great tests. I was somewhat lacking in concentration and didn't wake up till halfway round the rally and made a few mistakes etc. We were 32 secs quicker through Down Royal the second time round and lost another 9 or 10 seconds on a few other tests in the first loop due to lack of attention on both our parts. By the time we were into the second loop we were really enjoying ourselves and giving it a proper go. We were 19 secs quicker around Laws yard the second time around. Ah well, we had a bit of serious craic and that's what counts.

@DavyC is planning on getting an exclusion order to keep me away from tests

We're going to have to do something because it's getting beyond rediculous!!.. It's just too much of a coincidence.. even when I spot the camera from the start line, there's still a balls up on the way! And it's not just you Peter. At dundrod I somehow missed a loud and clear "hard right davy!!" and went to go past a bright orange arrow!... reversed back, turned in right, and there's @earney standing with a big lens!!.. I dont know why I overshot the finish on a later test but I'm assuming there was a camera near by somewhere.. couldnt possibly have been a lack of talent on my part! :p On the plus side tho, there's some cracking photos from the both you.

Peespeed Photography : Home Page & @earney 's Home | StopAstride.com for any interested passers by reading this.

We pretty much enjoyed all the tests too. Again, it was really hard to judge a lot of the surfaces... thought I was for taking the front off one of Stoneyford's lorries on the 1st pass through. The event claimed a few victims, so we're glad to have made it back intact.

We tried to stay for the prize giving, but had to cry off about 7pm... I guess a long wait was to be expected with 140 sets of times to plug into an excel, then all the queried times etc etc etc, but we were wrecked, and I had a clutchless Mondeo to nurse home in the p1shing rain, but that's a whole other story.

Soooo... After selling the 205 my Bro in Law had talked me into going halfers and sharing a car lol

£500 max to spend what would you buy lol? I'm thinking of a corsa or something FWD as he has no RWD experience. We were planning on sharing the car event about one he drives the other I drive?
