Yup i thot so, i believe its ment to be good, tried to get on it year before last and the dumb bitch in the admin office couldnt be arsed processing my form on the fri and by mon the spot was taken, went on another course instead in light metalwork but it sickened me of the place and i never bothered this year atall, food for thought for next year tho

once you go over a certain size of outer diameter pipe, bending distorts the pipe

As far as welding fabrication etc go for aluminium, John Marcella as in the first post, is well and truly a genius.

My exhaust has some awesome welding, titanium.

That will be robotic welding id imagine on any mass produced item like a backbox.

Karlos - chipping slag is arc welding and would never be like the first post as that will be tig welding, same as Phil D's evo exhaust.

There is every likelyhood it is done by hand.

A skilled welder will make it look as good as that !

My Granda has been welding pretty much all his life from the age of 15 and is regarded as one of the best welders about by anyone who has seen his work. He constantly produces some fantastic welds like the ones above. Some of them really are a work of art.

I'm an ok welder but when he's watching me I tend to flop under pressure as I know I can't produce anything near the same levels of quality as him, but seeing the expressions he pulls at some of my welds can be quite comical. On the odd occasion when I do produce a semi-decent weld I tend to act like a bit of a child and set it places to try and draw his attention in search of a compliment but I haven't had any joy on that front yet,lol.

Not one of John Marcella's manifolds contains a machine weld. All done by hand.

Plenty of people out there who are capable of producing perfect welds as shown, I doubt i will ever have the talent to do what they do, but some people are just born to do it.

My aim is to get good enough to have them post a photo of my work. At that point I think it would be safe to say the work is sh*t hot.
