Unless you had all the tools and skills and space to do a full restoration (i.e welding and painting) thereby saving on labour I wouldn't touch it, could end up a massive headache and costly

Few hundred it looks like. If it was the more desirable 2 door then completely different. Going by the rot on that back bumper alone I would not like to see what it is like underneath along the chassis rails and in the engine bay etc.

@Ollie I passed your Defender pulling a 405 the other night just after Hillsborough roundabout, so I imagine there'll be a pic of this hanging off a forklift by nightfall..... your enthusiasm is admirable!

I'd have a keen interest in this, if it's sensible money.

I believe I'm the only 4 door Ascona owner on here, and I didn't get some much as 1 tag or mention...?

I'd pull it out and have a poke around underneath. If it's solid it's worth a punt?

Not worth a lot as she sits; my brother has a rare GTJ (yes not GTE) Manta that is in better condition and already has some work done but cannot get it sold and he is not asking mega bucks. The issue is the restoration costs, only do it if you love it and want to keep it.

@Mark Irwin: Is the GTJ the hatchback variant of the GTE or something totally different? I remember seeing the lettering on eBay listings before.

GT/J was lower spec 1.8, while the GT/E had 2.0 engine. I think I remember both specs in both body shapes, but not sure.

This is the coupe model and it is very rare; there are only 5 registered in the whole of the UK and my brothers is the only NI registered one. His is also interesting as it has a 2.0 100 hp engine and most GTJ's were 1.8's.

That's it home. Couldn't have done it without @Ricky352! Hard work lol. The boy I bought it off was good craic.

Posted a few pictures on Facebook and have had a load of messages about it. Still don't know how much to ask.

Encouraging to see the car still attached to the towbar! Might not be as bad as I thought.
A set of 13x7 Alleycats would set it off nicely.
