Great photos as always Sven

nice before and after shots of the cleanup, with all the recent awful weather I think most of the would-be detailers are also only doing the bare essentials on the cleaning side of things - too cold to be faffing about with clay bars and designer waxes ATM

New central locking pump from Audi £450, repair kit from eBay £44 - tricky choice :grinning:

Amazing service! Ordered the kit this afternoon, and the guy selling the kit actually called just now to walk through the installation. Says he does that with every kit, must use up all his margin on mobile bills.

Got the replacement pump for the central locking today, and bunged it in this afternoon. Took less than an hour even for a turnip, and now it all works again by some miracle! Only hard part was getting the ruddy thing out past the subwoofer, and back in again...

Me: £400:-; Audi: nil :p

Squeezing it out from behind the subwoofer.

Take the lid off, lift out the circuit board (tip: disconnect the cables at the back first, cough :p ), and the pump shall be revealed. The pump is held in place by four rubber bungs at the back, simply push in the bungs and lift out the pump.

Old vs new. The pump is the same, but the replacement has a better impeller. Well, it is all sealed away, but no reason to doubt the source.

Cut off the cables from the old pump, and splice on the ones from the new one. Colour coded and all, even a Turnip could not get this wrong :innocent:

Some heat shrink on top, just to seal everything.

Pop the new pump back in, circuit board back on top, reconnect and test. It works!

Lid back on.

Wrestle it all back in place behind the subwoofer. Removing the rear lights really helps!

Well, not an update on the car per se - although it did get a proper clean by @big_pete, but did not manage to get pictures before it hit the first rain... Except one below actually :grinning:

But have been getting this built, and well pleased with the result. Should have done this years ago, such a handy place for loading/unloading in the rain, for general tinkering with cars/bikes/garden stuff out of the weather, for cleaning and polishing, etc.

Looks a brilliant set up man.
It take you long to get it up from start to finish?

The basic structure went up quite quickly. Completing all the fittings and finish took a bit longer, what with holidays and what not. They have been at it on and off for about two months. Also got some other general maintenance on the house sorted while at it.
