Never done Cookstowns. Not making it this year either unfortunately. More family commitments

I tend to get mixed up about which event is which but I think Cookstown was a good event last year.

I can picture the 306 now Andy, in the corner, dull and slightly green, flat battery, flat, dozed tyres, rusty discs, permenant condensation on the insides of windows!... sad times!.. Will hope to see it recomissioned for Larne tho!

Its still sitting as I parked it up after the Ulster. Haven't even looked at it since . Neil the guy navigating at Queens has had a baby since then. Just talking to him this morning funnily enough about what event to do next...

There is talk of going to Wales to to a lanes event in November, if anyone fancies a road trip?

hhhmm!!.. The girlfirend's Mother and Sister are just back from Wales with reports of some lovely scenery etc and got us thinking about a road trip sometime!... How much of a coincidence would that be if we just so happened to take the MX at the same time the rally was on!.. Doubt the funds will get us to wales tho, never mind the rally!

Yes, that's it. Your right though, the name threw me! Think we're still wanting to go though. 115 miles, pre plot, lanes, tracks and farms..... what's not to like! Firecracker navigation rally is the night before here as well. Could be an interesting double header!

No Circuit Retro this year but the UAC are organising a Retro Targa Rally on Oct 11th instead. The event will be based in the Newtownards/North Down area with Ronnie & Aaron Mithchel at the helm. Will hopefully be out at Larne in the mx5, just need to lift it up, remove the front splitter, put the carpet back in and try and get the handbrake working in some shape or form.

Total 'Targa Fest' or what!... May have to give the Halifax a ring in the morning now, but asides from that it's like christmas has come early!

It would be nice if the clubs spaced them out through the year a bit better.

Yeah, although i guess it's always going to be hard for everyone to choose dates that dont clash with other events. They're kind of limited to Saturdays so there's about 52, then the summer months are always going to be busy with other car enthusiast / family orientated events, so proably safer picking a date in the quieter months.

But sure the ANICC in all their wisdom sit everyone down to organise the dates.

Pity they wouldnt take into account, my having to work alternate saturdays. Do they not realise???

The ANICC aren't that interested in the Targa dates as they don't require rescue or ambulances, and there is no championship. It's up to the clubs to pick their own dates.
