1200 cars are suspected to be inside 6000 insurance claims put in for cars “parked”

Whose insurance eats that. The carpark or the car that originally went on fire.

There is a few cars a year catch fire at the top of the Coleraine mountain road a year. I always speculate it’s DPF regen fails cause them.

I read somewhere that a large number of insurance companies will not cover any RR in London due to the shear amount of thefts and how easy they are to steal - your home has to meet a certain criteria of security before consideration.

The insurance companies will argue between themselves for various degrees of liability, for example the car insurer will argue that the building didn't have adequate fire detection and suppression installed and the fire should have been contained more effectively.

US studies show there were 1,529.9 fires per 100k for ICE vehicles and just 25.1 fires per 100k sales for electric vehicles.

In Sweden a study showed a petrol or diesel car in was around 20 times more likely to catch fire than an electric vehicle.

There’s been a lot of scaremongering recently in relation to EV cars and their safety flaws or failures, I wonder what really is driving that thinking.

Is it not more to do with how ferociously they burn when they do go on fire and how hard they are to put out?
