Meeke through SS14, says he is going very very careful as he has no spare due to the puncture earlier. Going to have a "good sleep the night".

Kubica stopped in power stage, hit a tree possibly. Both ok. Shame as he was doing quite well this weekend.

Ogier said he was pushing hard, but he was more concerned about his friend in F1 (Bianchi) than the stage time

@Sam. called Kubica Bingo too early. Correct answer was SS18.

Meeke slow there. I reckon seeing Kubica going tree felling spooked him. Solid third place though (y) Always get the feeling Kris had more pace but was driving to seal the podium finish.

With any luck, Ali Fisher will get safely though SS18 and take the win in WRC3. Fingers crossed.

That will make a good weekend for the Northern Irish crews

My god he must have some budget as his m sport bill must be horrific.

Saying thay his stage times prove he is learning just not his finishing record.

Fair enough for meeke posting a slow time. Bag certain points for third and take no risk for power stage points.

Who won the power stage

He had quite a good weekend otherwise (and was lucky to get out of the crash on SS5).

Ogier won the power stage as usual. Elfyn took 2nd and JML 3rd

JML, Mikkelsen and Meeke all took it easy on the power stage to secure their places

Sign of something to come?

I think Meeke & Petter would be a dream team for citroen, both massive personalities and would sell well as they always have some craic in interviews etc

Prodrive tests new VW Golf rally car built 'to WRC spirit'

Prodrive has begun testing an all-new Volksagen Golf rally car.

The two-litre-engined Golf went through a systems check at MIRA last week and began testing in earnest in Wales on Tuesday.

It will not be eligible for the World Rally Championship and Prodrive says it has been built for a bespoke market.

The Golf, which was driven at the test by Terry Kaby, will compete for the first time next month.

Prodrive Motorsport managing director John Gaw said: "This is a very exciting project for us. It's something we've been working on for around six months.

"Clearly, it's not a World Rally Car because of the engine, but the rest of the Golf is built entirely to the spirit of a World Rally Car.

"The transmission and suspension are all in-keeping with current FIA regulations.

"Outwardly, it looks exactly like any of the cars competing in the WRC today."

Volkswagen Motorsport knows about the project, but has not played any part in the development and build of the car - all of which has been completed at Prodrive's Banbury factory.

"We ran the car at MIRA last week without any problems and we're at the start of a gravel test programme in Wales," Gaw added.

"It's great to see the car up and running in such a short timeframe. The team here at Prodrive have done an excellent job."

While the Golf is a rally car in its current specification, Gaw said a rallycross version could be a possibility.

"That's definitely possible," he said. "And it would only take a few modifications to do that."

Prodrive has experience of converting rally cars for rallycross, the Mini John Cooper Works being the last example.
