Mothercare should be along shortly with their car seats!

I think Noble are the only manufacturer inside.

What?! Is it not going to be full of manufacturers then, like a Motor Show? 8-(

I see theres more posts on their facebook page about giving away free tickets than actual content for the show.

Not sure I want to spend a tenner going lol. Was hoping for some free tickets but never materialised. Will see what the verdict is from Saturday but going by Facebook updates it doesn't look particularly promising. As Lyons says its been almost entirely about giving away tickets and little about the show itself.

I would have thought they'd advertise any others going, drum up some interest! No excuse as Ferrari etc are only a short distance away and they didn't seem to mind bringing a 458 to a free show in Lisburn a while back. The Facebook page doesn't inspire confidence at all. The fact they've had to give away so many tickets (not just through their own page but others) says to me that there isn't much interest in this, slightly backed up with the 'going' list at 800ish the last time I looked.

Going to see the reaction from Saturday and decide.

Not too sure about the dealers being there. I hope they are as I won two tickets back in February for Sunday and would be the only reason I would be going in the first place. Don't see too many modifieds being on display

What's all this craic about changing wheels and installing baby seats, surely everyone knows in that circumstance you put the baby in the wheel well and you belt up the spare wheel in the back seat
Not in an nsx. In the event of a flat tyre, you inflate and fit the spare, then leave the baby at the side of the road

I think it was the original Belfast Motor Show that got me interested in cars as a young boy. It was like being able to visit all the dealer showrooms in one place without being bothered by a salesman. This one really needed the support of all the dealers.

Had a quick look on the BBC weather site and it's giving heavy rain sat and rain on Sunday.

The whole thing might be forced indoors

I haven't read all of the thread but I don't get all the talk about this show - it sounds like it's going to be a family day out type of event but with a load of miscellaneous privately owned cars at it and I'd suspect these miscellaneous privately owned cars are likely to be a selection of the same you'll see at the various other local shows throughout the year and sometimes for free. Some owners do the show circuit and some don't so it's not hard to guess where the exhibits will come from: those who'll want to show their car (yet again) but enticed by a big-draw show in Belfast.

So if you want a family day with the kids it'll be fine but if you want a car show that is different or better than the rest, it will be more of a gamble.

Have they said that manufacturers/dealers will be there? If not, it's 1000% certain they won't. Are they trying to give the impression that it will be a revival of the old annual 'Ulster Motor Show' at the King's Hall? Hopefully not because it won't be anything like that. If Noble get an order or two from locals who may have bought a Ferrari or Porsche or McLaren it will have been worth their while.

The old Ulster Motor Show had a bar and a restaurant but not really many gimmicks or family stuff - it was just like Nigelo said, like being able to visit all the dealer showrooms in one place without being bothered by a salesman." except for a few upscale marques where they might not let you inside certain cars unless you were over forty and in a suit. It was special and you'd see cars that you weren't likely to see again: I remember seeing a Lancia 037 Stradale, Renault 5 Turbo (the original with the epic interior - not the Turbo 2), BMW M1, Peugeot 205 T16 (all in street trim), an original Toyota 2000GT which was just about to be shipped back to Japan, the launch of the NSX, DMC-12, Lotus Carlton etc.

Does seem odd they aren't having Ferrari/Porsche involvement etc with the dealerships being so close. You think the dealerships would lap that up

Speaking of the Motor Show of old, does anyone know when they ceased?

I used to go to them in the 80's and saw some great cars but the last I remember must've been around 1990 with the Honda NSX, Renault GTA LeMans and fwd Lotus Elan Turbo.

Must have been mid 90's or so I remember seeing the ford Ka fish tank and Escort GTi

Yes, think you're right. I now remember seeing a grey R33 GTR on a Nissan stand. Nissan UK brought in 50 if I remember correctly to compete with the grey imports (Think the UK cars were fifty grand!). That would make it around '96, which is when the Ka appeared.

I was thinking of going too because I thought it was going to be like a real motor show with all the latest cars from all of the manufacturers. I'm due a new company car soon and I would like the opportunity to look at what's available without the hassle from the salesman in a showroom.

From what I gather in post #294 it's outdoors. That would never happen if it was a manufacturers' show. The thing is did you get the impression it would be a manufacturers' show from the publicity for it?
