project fuel line continues. Ive ordered some stainless braided hose but totally confused on fittings. Hugely overkill but going to run -6 fuel fittings from pump to filter to hardline. First off Im strippping the old hoses off to see what is usable.

this is the filter to hardline (leads to engine) straight pipe. M16x1.5 female each end. Going to clean these up and reuse them with the stainless hose and suitable clamps.

original (crimps are well corroded)

and hose stripped off

outlet from the fuel pump - M12 banjo. This is the tricky hose, shown here:

Banjo just doesnt look healthy. Going to replace this whole hose with -6 fittings each end but want to see where Im going to mount the pump and filter as the original mounts are rotten. Then Ill know what bends etc I need.

here is the stock mounting location for the pump. I had to cut the rubber mounts off as the whole lot is corroded so might just cut the mounts off and mount the pump using a billet holder.

Front of car to left, rear to right and thats the back of the rear wheel. The odd shaped bango outlet is shown as it shows the pipe layout. could get away with a straight outlet from the pump maybe.

Good work so far getting this back to healthy condition.

Looks like a straight fitting would work on that pump outlet or you could use a banjo fitting with a 135' bend on it.

more rust cleaning. Time to tidy up the beam mounts. These are a common failure point and hideously expensive. 150 quid each for OEM or 140 ish for solid alloy replacements. Was rethreading one of the mounting bolts when the plate came off the rubber block

Plan to drill 4 holes in the corners and screw the plate back into the rubber block along with a glue on the back to keep it in place. Im a little unsure that that will hold it though so might run 2 bolts through the whole lot and grind the heads back flatter so it fits ok. Stripped most of the rubber off as all it seemed to do was trap moisture and rust from inside.

Also cleaned up the fuel filter and pump mounts, they werent too bad in the end. Krust on top, zinc primer over that, then will coat them in liquid wrap for a rubberised finish.

Crusty:

Cleaned up and Krusted

Lastly cleaned up the scabby driveshafts and painted black.

you two should form a support group :p

- in fairness though for a 26 year old car thats not bad. Nothing has been terrible or even really broken its just Im doing this once and dont want to be going in there again. Stuff like the fuel tank is just being anal, there wasnt a thing wrong with it. But now I KNOW there is nothing wrong with it, which makes it worth the effort imo.
