Did someone on here have a mk3 astra estate with a gsi transplant
Ok, the drivers seat almost gives it away, but everything else is low key! The toy dog in the back makes it
The same guys supra was equally silly though can't really be called a sleeper.
I know people generally nominate their own cars/interest, so I'll not break trend....Always found the old SAABs/Volvos to fit this category perfectly, mainly due to subtelty and other road users stereotyping as to how most of their owners would drive....9000 Aero def took people by surprise...290 bhp and a brutal mid range punch, only really given away by a the exhaust tip unless you knew your SAABs. Had some great laughs in it. 850 T5 tuned up or any engine conversion on a 7/900 series Volvo - these are the last cars people expect to give them a run up the road...

Cant believe it hasnt been mentioned yet.
Lotus Carlton!!
X2 i could see through it if you put up a pic of a standard carlton with a lotus engine! Can't believe you did mention it! How is that a sleeper? Anyone who knows anything about motors would instantly recognise what it is!
I had the grey astra estate with cav/calibra turbo engine. Had some fun in that car. It was a proper sleeper until I had it lowered and painted with gsi front endDid someone on here have a mk3 astra estate with a gsi transplant

Andy Jeffers nova turbo was impressive. As was mark brands ax gt
Only pic I have of it...
1.3L Maestro with an R-Series from an MG1600 complete with twin 40 DCNF's.
Rebuilt the engine with a load of weight taken off the flywheel, balanced etc and a ported head and kent cam. Dyno'd at 145bhp which wasn't bad for a 2 valve engine designed in the 60's. Quickshifted golf mk1 gearbox (std MG maestro). I kept the two tone old man paint job and used 14" steels with wheel trims to keep it looking innocent but yoko A509's on them. Parts bin special with Montego turbo ARB's and front brakes, 2.0 Efi exhaust with a smaller tailpipe, Spax coilovers, roversport group n bushes (This was '94 poly bushes didn't exist yet..). As a point to point b-road car, feck all would get near it. 850kg's so it was nimble. Used it a lot in the mid to late 90's as my daily driver and hoon mobile. Still miss it.
That is brilliant.Only pic I have of it...
